flipped

Just a quick post as the Olympics opening ceremony is far too distracting, I had to share these photo’s from early this morning. The kiddie-winks decided to join me out in the garden during my yoga session and I couldn’t help but snap some pics little ells bells impersonating poses, it was just too funny. At one point she even flipped herself fully over without meaning too! The rest of the morning was spent trying to teach Tiggy how to do a forward roll and a hand stand..which proved to be impossible. That boy hasn’t an agile bone in his body. Today made me realise just how much I’m going to miss these goons.

I’ve been putting off packing (hate doing it!) for days but today I decided to just bite the bullet and get on with it. It’s such nice feeling packing cute shorts, dresses and pretty summer clothes knowing where I’m going I will be needing them. Knowing me I’ll need to double check everything before I fully seal the suitcase but it was a start! Even though I have just under a week before I leave the homestead. Starting to get really excited now! XO

My week in pictures, again. I should number these.

Just stopping by to flood your screen with last weeks collection of weekly snapshots! I’ve excluded Friday because I’m saving them for a separate post, plus there would really be waay too many photo’s for one post. Without further a due..

Ellie getting her face full of breakfast on Easter morning. She managed an entire fry up, hot cross buns AND then started on her bunny and mini eggs. Soon enough she was literally doing little dances in her chair from the amount of chocolate she had. Hyper out!!  A little diy involving delicate and careful painting. The slogan on the tee is slightly offensive so I thought best not insult any body by putting the diy up on here! Injured soles, since getting more into my daily exercise routines I had sure enough, over done it and had to deal with the pain of not being able to fully walk on your feet. Don’t worry, I’ve sorted it out. I bought myself proper fitness trainers!

A little desk shot of the daily mess it accumulates. That is also a sneak to one of my DIY’s that will be coming up next week :) And finally getting around to writing my letter of complaint to Nestlé, it’s no fun finding a lump of wood in your cereal especially as it was centimetres from being consumed. So I figured I should complain, naturally. Let’s hope they take my letter cereasly (heh heh, see what I did there? I’m hilarious I know!) and maybe I could even get a freebie out of it. If I happen to get anything back, I shall let you know! XO

part 2 of 2

Apologies for the second half coming so late! I’ve been slacking a bit too much on the blog, I am sorry! So where was I? After our very long and strange bus ride home we had eventually made it back to the homestead where we unpacked our newly bought things, jumped into our comfy clothes and cracked open the wine for a long night of card games, drunk giggles and sherlock holmes. For the first time probably ever too, I didn’t take any photo’s whilst drinking, which I’m actually glad of now!

The next day we were blessed with glorious sunshine and decided to take a stroll down to the village with the littlest brother in tow. I bought him ice-cream because he said it was hot enough for one, and we strolled back up home. I wore my new h&m dress that day too and felt very girly-goth. Do you ever find items that look like they were placed somewhere for a purpose? The dress I bought was ‘hidden’ behind a bunch of ugly shirts and if it wasn’t for Shane standing where he stood, I wouldn’t have seen it poking its pretty little self out. There were no other dresses like it, it was in my size and it was on sale, which makes it even better. Yay!

After a while we went for an evening stroll but this time only myself, katie and the kiddie-winks. (too much daylight for xbox boy.) We went down the neighbours farm and showed Ellie some small bird tracks, how to make big splashes in the slowly drying up pond and Tiggy larked about on the big fallen boulder rocks whilst I collected pretty rocks to display on my roof. I also took advantage of the beautiful golden glow the setting sun had given everything and snapped a few pictures on my phone.

Ellie was smitten with Katie too, she wouldn’t walk with any of us except Katie, even giving me a scowl when I wanted to take a picture of her on her own! I sneakily snapped this one below! It was so lovely to spend quality time with Katie again, it really is true that the only way to truly appreciate someone is to spend time away from them, which is something we can’t help as for most of the year she lives in Budapest! We’re already counting down the weeks till she’s back after her exams and we’ve even planned a little holiday away :)xo

Cheep cheep!

The last time I saw the chicks were literally right after birth, when they were still sticky from the egg they came from. So seeing them in there full fluffy yellowy-ness is just lovely. I’ve been making an effort to handle them as much as I can so they get used to human contact. Mum’s ‘girls’ as she calls them, follow her around like a bad smell. All she needs to do when they get loose is walk out and shout ‘come on girls!’ as she walks back towards the paddock with them following her in tow. Our chihuahua is the same, he won’t go anywhere without mum being there. If he had it his way he would even follow her to the bathroom! (he’s not allowed upstairs)
Back to the chicklets, it was quite difficult taking these photos as I didn’t have my clicker and I only noticed after I took these that the focus was off.  The chicks need to stay under a red light for another few weeks, so taking them away from they’re warm bed for too long is a no-no. So these pictures will have to suffice! Apologies for my unclean nails, since dying my hair I haven’t been able to get all of the blue off my fingertips! Just a bit of fun colour before I dye out all of my ombré hair. I’ve always loved being blue! xo

Ellie gets arty

Happy 1st of October! This is my FAVOURITE month of the year as I’m sure it’s also the case with lots of others.. I’m going to be doing a September re-cap post because last month was just soo busy but for now, I want to show you something sweet :] Ellie bells created her first painting yesterday! Surprisingly, I had no problems with not getting the brush in her mouth or on her clothes and she even choose her own colours.. blue and green. She caught on to it really well!

She was so proud of herself she even gave me a little high five :]

Afterwards myself and Teige had a little mission of printing her hands and stencilling around bother her feet & hands. It was something she couldn’t bear because the pen was tickling her tootsies! After a good long struggle and many a giggle we had her prints for mum to keep.  She also found it hilarious to balance her work on Teige, as if he was her easel or something ha! XO

Handmade ‘Raspberry Crush’ Shift Dress!

Hello lovely readers.. I know I haven’t written a new post in a few days but I’ve been a little busy with ideas/designing/creating and just generally getting through my projects list for the year! And going on unplanned adventures today distracted me from blogging but it was so worth it. I did plan to write this post earlier but I got called away to attend a mandatory course at work so this explains the late blog post. Anyway my blog stats are showing the bloggies doing fiiine without me! Thank you all for viewing my little corner of the web, I love each and every one of you :)

Two nights ago I decided to make use of all my fabric I have stashed away in my cupboards. (I literally have bags and bags of the stuff!) As usual I began my dress making plan far too late at night to begin it so I decided to wait another day before I got started, because rushing through it at night is never a good thing and I always work best after a good nights kip! So yesterday I got started on my dress! It took me the bones of about 6 hours but I did it, and I seriously love how it turned out! I wore it all day today too! I used vintage bedsheets kindly given to me from Shane’s mum, which I’m almost out of too! It’s amazing to see the before and after pictures..

As you can see my dress started off like a sack. A rather comfy sack but still not a pretty dainty little dress. Better too big than too small though!
With a few hours worth of taking it in and trying it on / alterations and added ideas here it is! My favourite part of the dress is the peter pan collar and the wishy washy faded looking fabric. ♥

I’m so happy with the outcome of this dress! I really thought it would end up being one of those projects I finish and end up hating but not this time!
The picture of me climbing the tree was from todays adventures.. More coming up on that!

All pictures except sewing machine were taken by Alex!
XOXO

D.I.Y: Stained Glass Tea Light Jars

Today whilst rummaging through mum’s endless supply of arty things in her workshop I stumbled across a few pots of unused glass paint and soon after was given some empty baby food jars as well. So it only made sense that I decided to have a go at painting these cute little jars! I started with the insides, painting each jar a different colour using Red, Yellow, Green and Blue and mixed colours to have Orange and Purple also. It ended up working out to one colour for each jar! I love that they’re so small and colourful. Totally cute :)

Once I had painted the insides of the jars I used silver glass paint to dot around the outside top edges of the jars. I didn’t really have a plan on how I was going to design them so I went with simple dots on each jar. Nothing to fancy. I like how they turned out any way. I know these are fast becoming my favourite little things to create. Not only are they so easy but they look so cute hanging from branches of trees or just sitting glowing lightly on a shelf in your bedroom. The pictures don’t really do these little jars justice, the colours are just gorgeous in the light (and dark with the candles burning!)
So really you’ll just have to make some of your own to see for yourself! :) XOXO

P.s, Congratulations to Elsie and Jeremy Larson who tied the knot today! They’re only the sweetest couple ever in little blog-land.. :) XO

Project Restyle no. 02!

Here’s another little Project Restyle, this time it’s a  floral+slightly crazy mid length light skirt that I thrifted last weekend or so. It was waaay too long for my liking so I did a simple snip here and there with scissors and the rest was hemmed, a really quick job but it made all the difference. This skirt is so bright and bold I must be careful with what I wear with it! Excuse my face in the above shots, I just can’t be arsed wearing make-up these days!  xoxo
